Auto-Backlight and Auto-Calibration
Updated over 7 months ago

Beeline calibrates automatically when you start riding. When you set off, you’ll see a spinning icon in the centre of the arrow, which is indicating that the Beeline is trying to ‘lock on’.

If you’re riding at a speed of at least 3mph (5kph), it will disappear within a few seconds and your arrow will be pointing you exactly the right way. All you need to worry about now is where to explore next.

If you see this spinning icon during a ride, it may indicate poor GPS or communication issues with your phone. It should work itself out quickly, but if it’s keeping on please view common GPS troubleshooting tips here.

Auto Backlight:

The Moto II’s screen technology uses an ambient light sensor. This means that, so long as you have the auto-backlight enabled in the app (below), the device’s screen will adjust throughout your ride to give you the optimal screen brightness in any condition. For example, the brighter the sun, the brighter the backlight will be, to keep the display readable*.

Auto-backlight is enabled by default, but if you’d like to adjust this yourself, you can disable the setting in the Beeline app and adjust your device’s screen brightness manually.

To enable/disable auto-backlight, head to the Beeline app > Beeline device > Auto-backlight:

To control the device screen brightness manually, use the bottom button on the device to scroll down to the Battery and Brightness screen and adjust from there:

*Use of auto-backlight on the highest setting (i.e. in prolonged sunny conditions) results in a higher power drain on the device. We'd still never expect the battery life to fall short of 9 hours. For more information on Moto II battery and charging, please visit this article.
