Please note: You may notice the original Velo in this video. Same great concept, but now available on our Velo 2 device and our Moto II device too!
How do road ratings work?
We use your feedback to improve routes for you and the entire Beeline community. As part of our mission to improve journeys on two wheels, we believe that traditional road data (road type, speed limit, etc.) doesn’t cover everything when it comes to creating the ideal route for you. We need real-life, real-time user experience too!
If you’re riding on a road that you think is great, you can give it positive feedback (tap the green button in-app, or long-press the right-hand + button if you have it enabled on your device).
Conversely, if you’re riding on a road that you find unpleasant, give it negative feedback (tap the red button in-app or long-press the left-hand button if you have it enabled on your device).
You can see the ratings that you have given in your journey summary at the end of every ride and all the ratings you have ever given in your journey heatmap.
When you’re planning a journey, the routes you’ll be offered will incorporate everyone’s rating data to make sure that you are offered the very best options between your location and destination. We also show where the best and worst sections of your journey will be to help you decide which route is best for you! You'll see this in your route, with green sections representing areas that received higher ratings, and orange sections indicating areas with lower ratings.
Please know that this feature is not yet available on the Moto II.
However, we will always create routes that avoid the very worst of roads (70 mph dual carriageways, for example).
Important notes:
We know this is stating the obvious, but please only rate roads when you are capable of doing so and avoid rating in dangerous situations.
The data that you provide through rating roads with Beeline is used solely to improve the service that we provide to you. Whether that’s the routing you’re given or the directions you follow on your device.
Deleting a road rating
We understand that sometimes you might want to adjust or remove a road rating you've given on a Beeline ride. While a direct "edit rating" feature isn't currently available, there are a couple of workarounds you can use to manage your ratings.
Workaround 1: Deleting the Ride
The simplest way to remove a road rating is to delete the ride associated with it.
Here's how:
Open the Beeline app.
Go to your "journeys" section.
Find the ride that contains the road rating you wish to remove.
Press the three dots on the right-hand side of the ride and press delete
Confirm that you want to delete the ride.
Important Note: Deleting the ride will remove all data associated with it, including the route, distance, and any other metrics.
Workaround 2: Overriding the Rating
If you don't want to delete the entire ride, you can override the rating by revisiting the road and providing a new rating in the opposite direction. For example:
If you gave a negative rating, return to that road and give it several positive ratings.
If you gave a positive rating, return to that road and give it several negative ratings.
Here's how to do it:
Plan a ride that includes the road you want to re-rate.
Travel along that road.
When travelling along the road, give it a few ratings opposite to the
Repeat this process a few times to ensure your new rating overrides the previous one.
Why This Works:
Beeline’s system uses the latest ratings made on a road, so you can override any previous ratings that have been used.
We understand that these workarounds may not be ideal. We are continually working to improve the Beeline experience, and we appreciate your feedback. User feedback like this helps us to improve our app.
