Beeline devices use a mixture of tech to make sure your device is pointing in exactly the right direction during your rides out. The gyroscope within the device is one component driving this. If your display is not pointing quite right or is spinning in a strange way, your gyroscope may need to be reset.
Before we begin, please note:
Typically, the gyroscope will calibrate and adjust its calibration periodically to stay exactly right. This method is only needed if it starts to act up.
To recalibrate your gyroscope:
Step 1: Update to the Latest Firmware
To check for updates, open the Beeline app on your phone and connect to your device.
If an update is available, you will typically be prompted to install it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Step 2: Connect and Prepare Your Device
Turn on your Beeline device.
Ensure it's connected to your phone via the Beeline app.
Step 3: Gyroscope Recalibration
Place your Beeline device with rear facing down on a flat, static surface. This could be a kitchen worktop, or any stable, horizontal surface that won't be moved or disturbed.
Do not touch or move the device for 30-60 seconds. During this time, your Beeline will automatically detect its stable position and recalibrate its internal gyroscope.
Step 4: Test Your Device
We hope that this now has your device working properly. If this is not the case, it may be that the gyroscope isn't the cause of the trouble. Check out our Resolving issues whilst on a Beeline ride article for other potential causes and solutions.
