Audio navigation with Beeline

Get to know our audio navigation options with this article!

Updated this week

When navigating with Beeline, you have a few audible options you can enable to be alerted when approaching upcoming turns:

  1. Device turn reminders - these are audio beeps coming from the Beeline device when approaching turns

  2. Spoken audio directions - to tell you the distance and direction of your next turn, either through the phone speaker or connected headset (Cardos or similar included)

  3. App audio beeps - that play from the Beeline app either through the phone speaker or connected headset (Cardos or similar included)

You can enable each of these for your preferred method of being alerted of upcoming turns.

Enabling Device Alerts

Once you have connected a Beeline device, head to the Beeline app > Settings > Device settings > Alerts and Sounds > and enable this option from there.

You will then be alerted when approaching turns.

If you are using a Velo 2 device, the device will beep once when you are 100 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 30 meters from the turn.

If you are using a Moto II device, the device will beep once when you are 200 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 50 meters from the turn. LED visual alerts will also be shown on Moto II devices following this same logic and setting. This setting enables and disables both of these functions. They cannot currently be enabled or disabled individually.

Enabling Spoken Audio and Audio Beeps through your phone

To enable audio instructions that come through your phone or connected headset, head to the ride screen in the Beeline app. Once you have started a ride, you will see an audio symbol in the top right. You can use this toggle on the fly to suit your ride!

Select the "Enable turn notification sounds" if you prefer the simple beep when the turn is approaching:

Similar to the device beeps, if you are using the motorcycle activity type, the device will beep once when you are 200 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 50 meters from the turn.

If you are using the cycling activity type, the device will beep once when you are 100 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 30 meters from the turn.

Select the "Enable audio directions" option if you prefer to have the traditional, fully spoken audio directions. For example "Turn left in 50 meters":

Please note: Spoken audio was previously a Beeline Plus feature. We have chosen to make it free for all users as to keep improving the Beeline experience for all! Plus users will have some new features being added very soon, so keep an eye out on the app as well as our Beeline app feature updates page here for more exciting additions before long.

This change has gone live for iOS users, and will be released to all Android users soon as well.
