When navigating with Beeline, you have a few audible options you can enable to be alerted when approaching upcoming turns:
Device turn reminders - these are audio beeps coming from the Beeline device when approaching turns
Spoken audio directions - to tell you the distance and direction of your next turn, either through the phone speaker or connected headset (Cardos or similar included)
App audio beeps - that play from the Beeline app either through the phone speaker or connected headset (Cardos or similar included)
You can enable each of these for your preferred method of being alerted of upcoming turns.
Enabling Device Alerts
Once you have connected a Beeline device, head to the Beeline app > Settings > Device settings > Alerts and Sounds > and enable this option from there.
You will then be alerted when approaching turns.
If you are using a Velo 2 device, the device will beep once when you are 100 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 30 meters from the turn.
If you are using a Moto II device, the device will beep once when you are 200 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 50 meters from the turn. LED visual alerts will also be shown on Moto II devices following this same logic and setting. This setting enables and disables both of these functions. They cannot currently be enabled or disabled individually.
Enabling Spoken Audio and Audio Beeps through your phone
There are two audio options through the Beeline app - Spoken audio and audible turn beeps when approaching a turn. They are different features, but can both be enabled/disabled in the same place. To enable these settings:
Head to the ride screen in the Beeline app and start your ride. Once you have started a ride, you will see an audio symbol in the top right of your screen, below the turn directions:
You can use this toggle on the fly to suit your ride!
Select the "Enable audio directions" option if you prefer to have the traditional, fully spoken audio directions. For example, "Turn left in 50 meters":
Select the "Enable turn notification sounds" if you prefer the simple beep when the turn is approaching:
The turn notification sound, similar to the device beeps, will trigger an audible beep through your phone or connected headset once when you are 200 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 50 meters from the turn for motorcycling.
If you are using the cycling activity type, the device will beep once when you are 100 meters from your next turn, and twice when you are 30 meters from the turn.
4. Hit the road! You're turn-by-turn directions will now be spoken to you through your phone or connected headset 🔈
Notes:
Audio instructions are only available in English and German at the moment. We look forward to bringing this feature to more non-English speaking users in the near future. If you’d like to stay in the loop on coverage expansions, please join our mailing list. You can do this in the bottom right-hand corner of our website https://beeline.co/:
Where available, the language of the audio is enabled by the phone’s language settings. The phone must be in German to receive German audio instructions. Otherwise, you will receive English. Learn more here.
