Permission checks on your Android phone

To ensure your Beeline app and device work seamlessly, you'll need to adjust a few settings on your phone.

Updated over a week ago

Adjusting Beeline App Permissions

Find the Beeline App Info:

  • Search for "Apps" or "Applications" in your phone's settings.

  • Locate and select "Beeline" from your list of installed apps.

Set Location Permission:

  • On the Beeline app info page, tap on Permissions.

  • Select Location.

  • Choose "Allow while using the app" or a similar option.

Configure Mobile Data Usage

Access Mobile Data Settings:

  • From the Beeline app's information page, tap on Mobile data (or "Data usage," "Data," etc., depending on your phone model).

Enable Background Data and Data Saver Usage:

  • Ensure "Allow background data usage" is toggled on.

  • Also, enable "Allow data usage while Data Saver is on" (or a similar setting).

These settings ensure the Beeline app can use data even when it's not actively open or when you have Data Saver enabled, which is crucial for its proper functioning.

Stop Optimising Battery Usage

Navigate to Battery Settings:

  • From the Beeline app's information page, tap on Battery.

Set Battery Usage to Unrestricted:

  • Choose "Unrestricted" (or "Don't optimise" or "No restrictions").

Selecting "Unrestricted" ensures that your phone's battery optimisation features don't prevent the Beeline app from running properly in the background, which is essential for consistent performance.

Review Background Usage Limits

Next, we'll check your phone's general battery optimisation settings to ensure the Beeline app isn't being restricted:

Access Device Care and Battery Settings:

  • Go to your phone's main Settings menu.

  • Select Device care and battery (or "Battery and device care," "Battery," etc.).

Check Background Usage Limits:

  • Tap on Battery.

  • Choose Background usage limits.

  • Disable power saving: Make sure any general power-saving modes are not enabled, as they can restrict app performance.

  • Verify Beeline isn't sleeping: Check the "Sleeping apps" list to ensure the Beeline app is not listed there. If it is, remove it.

These settings should have your Android phone ready to go with the Beeline app! We wish you many great rides!
